End Time or Armageddon is a biblical concept. In many religions, the period that precedes the “end of time“ is marked by special events: disasters and wars, blackout, fire, the sun comes up in the west, popular uprisings, hungry... so we're actually 2,000 years on the road to the end.
But then comes the Messiah who overcomes evil, or the true Buddha who returns with the launch of the new and peaceful kingdom of God on earth.
Apocalypse is Greek and means revelation (used in the book of Revelation in the New Testament). Since in this biblical the end of the world is described, the word is now commonly used for a chaotic 'end of time' situation rather than the revelation of hidden things by God to a prophet.
There are about 500 prophecies in the Old Testament that would relate to the Second Coming of the Messiah. In the New Testament is a quarter of the verses dealing with the return of Jesus.
(Matthew 24: 1-8 + 9-12) "When will these things be, and what is the sign of your coming and of the end of the world? And Jesus replied: Take heed that no man deceives you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and will deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all things must happen, but this is not the end. For the people shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."
And Nostradamus described in a letter to his son Cesar predictions:
"... Such flash floods that there is no place in the world that will not be flooded and for a long time, almost everything will be destroyed, except for the weather and space... "
"... After the floods will be such a large amount of heat and hot stones falling from the sky that nothing will escape this last devastating fire."
So,.. TATAAA..! Here are the doomsday scenarios for disaster. Often predicted, but never happened.
As far as we know.
Every year they are there, with memorable hits for 1999 and 2012.
And probably even all filmed.
Possibilities abound: aggressive aliens, asteroid impacts, earthquakes, eruptions, tsunamis, nuclear disasters, toxic disasters, pole shift, solar storms and credit crises.
Combinations of disasters are possible: an impact causes an earthquake causing volcanic eruptions that cause a tsunami and nuclear disaster. It can. A disaster never comes alone.
The massive and uncontrollable forces whenever here involved force us little people, at least to humble realism. Every day can be the last.
Another option for the end of the world: the bureaucracy.
