KrabbelradA pawl feeder pushes the carriage on which the trunk is cut to the front. It consists of a ratched wheel (rack) with against it a cogwheel with a rack. With each upward movement of the saw frame the feeder draws the ratched wheel one or more teeth (adjustable), so that the carriage is pulled forward when the downward movement of the saw frame is cut. A saw frame has several parallel saw blades.
