Downy mildew is on the underside of the leaf. You can preventative spray with horsetail. Horsetail contains much silicic and pectin acid that the Romans were already using to sand pans. Silicic provides plants with a strong and rigid cell wall, by which molds will more difficult infect plants. 100 grams of fresh leaves or 25 grams of dried horsetail soaking in a liter of water for 24 hours. Then seve it and misting or watering in dry weather in the morning.

In the garden honeydew is annoying, because the sticky layer can suffocate underlying leaves, and can attract fungi.
