moutkarMalt is soaked, germinated and dried barley. As raw materials for beer it is selected in different colors and flavors, depending on the type of beer. Dark roasted malt has a caramel and spicy flavor, suitable to replace e.g. scarce and expensive herbs in speculoos (caramelized biscuit).

Roasted malt has been a substitute for coffee for a longtime, called ’coffee of the poor’.
