Sodium is a common soft metal that has a boiling point at 883°C and a melting point at 97.5°C.
Sodium salts which occur in nature, are especially sodium chloride (rock salt), sodium carbonate (soda), sodium borate (borax), sodium nitrate and sodium sulfate.
We know it as one of the two components of sodium chloride (table salt).
Linked to fatty acids it is a good water-soluble salts (soaps).
